New User Needs Help Badly :(

Postby Draconis » Sat Jul 24, 2010 2:44 pm

Hi all,
I have just purchased an N1 and have been playing around with the Tvixie software.
I've managed to get covers for all the films on my PC no problems there.
I changed the setup to display cover art as described in the user guide and have also changed the folder names on my PC to MOVIE (etc)

However when I go into the N1 movies section I just see folders with no cover art???

Am I missing something?

I am using it like this.....C:/MOVIE D:/MOVIE (etc) is this right? or does the MOVIE part need to be somewhere else?

Really pulling my hair out please help!

Cheers

Hi Draconis, and welcome to tvixie forum.

Since you are talking about setting up folders on your PC, I presume that your problem relates to viewing external (to TViX) folders. You will be using NetShare to access them, right?

Once I know the answer to this, I will guide you to the most effective method of doing this...

EDIT: It would also be helpful if you could let me know which O/S you use on PC ;)

Hi,
I'm using Windows 7 and can view the folders / cover art on that no problem.
Yes I'm using netshare (wired connection) which seems to work fine, but I'm not seeing any cover art on my tvix player (HD N1) FW 2.03

*Update

Have just tried using a USB stick with a folder on it named "Movie" and a couple of films inside, that worked :)

So the problem I have relates to the initial folders that are detected on the PC by the Tvix . ie videos, photos, library, music

So when on tvix it goes like this....PC:/videos/folders/MOVIE

So somehow I need to change the videos (which I can't see in directory) one to movie I think??????

Suggestions?

Thanks for the information. You are soooooo close to finding the solution already.

When you used the USB stick, you were able to see cover art etc. This is because TViXiE was able to 'see' a folder called 'Movie'. When you use NetShare, you are probably linking directly to the 'Movie' folder (and therefore the 'Movie' folder cannot be 'seen' because you are there already).

1. What you need to do is have a folder called something like 'Media' (name unimportant but obviously easy to recognise). Inside this folder, you should place your 'Movie' folder.

2. Make 'Media' the Folder to Share in NetShare

3. When you use TViX to navigate to your PC, you will see 'Movie' as a folder and when you go into that folder, you should now be able to see folders represented by icons. :)

FURTHER TO THIS:
If you have media on various drives on the same PC, you do not have to create seperate shares within NetShare. To do this, you have to create Symbolic Links and place them inside the 'Media' folder you created already.
If this is something you want to try, let me know and I will assist you further ;)

Ok just tried all that.....didn't work...
What it seems to be doing is interfacing with windows media player as those are the folders that appear on the Tivx.
Every time I select Movies from the Tivx menu then Select device UpNp (wired to the PC) it goes to the media player folders, which obviously means it isn't seeing my MOVIE folder as the root.

Heeeeeeelp! lol

Don't select UPnP. Select Net P1 or whichever you chose to link to your share in NetShare. (You did configure TViX too , didn't you?)

ref section 3.4 of the manual

You are very welcome. I have to admit that we have progressed so quickly due to your detailed replies. So thank you for helping me to help you ;)

It seems like we are into the final furlong. All we have to do is work out why TViX is not showing the info screen (tvix.jpg).

Tell me, when you set up tvixie, did you configure it for 6600N?

No, 6500A and that works fine through a memory stick just not on the netshare.
Will try the other one. :)
